About Us
Sport for Television combines marketing and public relations understanding with an intimate knowledge of logistical sport including international and mass participation cycling, road running and triathlon in a variety of countries.
Sport for Television brought the Tour de France to Britain and had the Law changed to allow it to happen. They also organised the first televised series of City Centre Cycling™ events in the UK for Channel 4 and on RTE in Ireland. In total 45 British and Irish cities have been closed by SfT for such events. We have promoted and organised 10 Tours of Britain and 8 editions of the UCI World Cup for professionals, shown live throughout Europe.
In recent years Sport for Television organised the UCI World Track Cycling Championships in 2000 and 2008 plus 5 UCI World Cup events on the track. We also had key delivery roles in the ITU World Triathlon Championships and two UCI World Cyclo Cross Chanpionships. Sport for Television originated and organised the 21 days Great Race for many of the top distance runners in the world and coordinated technical matters for a series of Gaymer’s Cyder 10k running events, also for Channel 4.
Sport for Television co-founded the UKBMX and IBMXF governing bodies, promoted two television BMX series with Kellogg’s and advised on the construction of 62 BMX tracks with UK local authorities. They were also co-owners of BMX Action Bike magazine that sold 80,000 copies monthly as the sport developed.
Sport for Television has strong Irish connections and it was here that they co-founded the Nissan Classic Tour of Ireland that ran for 8 years and also worked in attracting the Tour de France ‘Grand Depart’ to Ireland, embracing Dublin and Cork. They promoted and organised the 3 most recent editions of the Tour of Ireland, sponsored by Fáilte Ireland for the promotion of tourism.
Sport for Television has held key organisational and consultancy roles with Le Tour de Langkawi tour of Malaysia (10 years), Tour of the Philippines (4 years), Cycle Singapore (6 years), Tour de Korea (2 years) and the Tour of Beijing (4 years).
The company has an enviable track record in delivering events for; Kellogg’s, Michelin, Nissan, Rover, Guinness, Carlsberg, McEwans, Halfords, Coca Cola, Sun Life, Prudential, Scottish Provident and organisations such as British Cycling, Cycling Ireland, Government of Malaysia, ASO Tour de France,, Union Cycliste International, Korean Cycling Federation, UK Sport, Singapore Sports Council and the Beijing Sports Bureau.
Sport for Television has worked closely with broadcasters including BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Sky, S4C, RTE and RTM (Malaysia). Sport for Television personnel were also involved in the television production of road, track and BMX cycling at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
As well as retaining sponsors and television clients for long periods, Sport for Television have always demonstrated special skills in event delivery and gaining the cooperation of Police, local authorities and Governments. Attention to detail, careful safety reviews and visualisation of the final event are real strongpoints.
